I plan a first litter from one of my bitches in 2025.
I am a novice breeder but I do have a clear picture of the ideal basset hound for me: a medium heavy sturdy dog with little hanging skin, characteristic head with occiput and sufficient lip, dark eye and soft long ears, short shiny coat, lots of bone with compact feet, beautiful "wrap-around" front and forechest, a good trotter and super sweet. I plan to breed a litter every now and then with the intention of keeping a promising puppy from this for show and/or breeding.
When choosing a bitch and a male/breeding combination, the following are of importance to me:
I give my dogs a lot of attention, they are cuddled daily and are handled. They are regularly walked in the forest and during the day they have a large garden at their disposal. I do courses (obedience/ring training) with them and drive hundreds of km with them to shows at home and abroad. They love to go everywhere in the car.
I am looking for a loving home for my puppies, where the dog gets enough TLC -Tender, Love and Care-. I therefore appreciate it if interested puppy buyers introduce themselves by telephone or email and indicate what kind of puppy they are looking for and what they have to offer a puppy from me. I try to inform puppy buyers as well as possible during the first weeks after birth. Even when the puppy lives with its new family, I am always ready to answer questions and I like to keep in touch.
If you are interested in a puppy from me, please contact me. A first introduction preferably takes place during an activity of the NBHC or an exhibition. I think it is important that puppy buyers have thoroughly familiarized themselves with the breed in advance. I do not work with a waiting list. Initially, the contact is without obligation and even after the birth of the puppies there is explicitly no question of a reservation or purchase agreement. I will invite you to come and see the puppies when they are around 5 weeks old. Then, taking your wishes into account, I will make you an offer.
The puppies go to their new owners (in the Netherlands) at around 8-9 weeks. For abroad, a rabies vaccination must first take place. The puppies may not go abroad until they are 15 weeks old.
The puppies are dewormed, vaccinated and chipped. In addition, the puppy receives an official FCI pedigree (issued by the Raad van Beheer) and a European animal passport. I also use a purchase agreement to properly record the mutual agreements. The puppy package also contains documentation, a blanket, toy and various foods and snacks.
